Dubai, UAE – The annual Terry Fox Run took place on Friday April 27th, 2012 along the crescent at the Palm Jumeirah, starting from the Atlantis Hotel. Although not a big group, 6 of us from NORR Dubai braved the scorching sun to ‘run’ along with a few family members (and some dogs). The Terry Fox Run has a long tradition in Dubai, commencing in 1993, with the largest amount of money raised by an out-of-Canada run (at the time). Doug & I ‘ran’ in this event and a number more in the intervening years.

Also check out http://www.terryfox.org/_Library/docs/2011_International_Newsletter_Final.pdf for details about amounts contributed in the past (to date the Terry Fox Run in Dubai has raised C$2.7m, and the UAE has raised C$4.5m – not including funds raised at this year’s events and there were runs in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Fujairah, Ras al Khaimah and Dubai).
The Terry Fox Run is an annual non-competitive charity event held in numerous regions across the globe in commemoration of Canadian cancer activist Terry Fox, and his Marathon of Hope, and to raise money for cancer research.
