With the nervous and fateful click of a mouse, thousands of marathoners will seal their commitment when online registration to the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon begins next month.
First-come, first-serve registration for 45,000 runners will open at noon Chicago time on Feb. 19 at chicagomarathon.com.
And here’s a piece of advice for interested runners: Don’t procrastinate. Last year registration filled up in six days.
Runners from all over the world will run though 29 of Chicago’s neighborhoods on very flat streets — a key selling point.
The 36th annual event will be held Columbus Day weekend, Sunday, Oct. 13, starting and finishing in Grant Park.
The marathon is one of the six World Marathon Majors, which rank as the most prestigious marathons in the world.
Entrance to the race will cost $175 for U.S. participants and $200 for runners from outside of the U.S.
The Chicago Sun-Times is an official sponsor of the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
